Escapismo – a new football print magazine aiming to capture the heart of the game

We’ve been quite fortunate in recent times to see a big resurgence in football publications in print, and in these strange times we can never have enough. From world-renowned publications like Four Four Two or Mundial Magazine to in-house club programmes or fan produced quarterlies, we’ve had lots of great reading material for our coffee tables. So much so that it inspired James Gamlin to produce his own magazine, Escapismo, a new publication focusing on providing captivating and insightful content to an audience that shares a passion for the beautiful game.

Coming in at over 100 pages of original articles and photographs, issue one of Escapismo concentrates on the allure and romance of football, with articles rich in the emotions that the game can bring to so many people. It has a global feel with articles covering football in Spain, Argentina, Mexico, Italy, France, Germany and England, whilst also tapping into some of things that make the experience of playing the game at a local level so special.

Featured highlights include: Mexico and the fifth game curse; Deportivo de La Coruña: one of the greatest comebacks in history; Fabio Quagliarella’s incredible 2018-19 season; Yohan Cabaye: technique and modesty; The Superclásico of 2018; Barcelona: how the culture and creativity of the city are reflected by it’s largest team; Leicester City: the legacy of the unbelievable title triumph

“In the digital age, reading something printed has never been more important, and I cannot explain how much I appreciate all of the support that the magazine has received so far. Football is a truly magnificent game and we aim to present it in an elegant format”.

James Gamlin
