Last month BT Sport Films aired the excellent Golazzo: The Football Italia Story, which captured the brilliance of the hugely popular Channel 4 show Gazzetta Football Italia and revisited some of the iconic moments from the show and the lasting impression it left on thousands of fans around the UK and Ireland at the time.
To accompany the show BT Sport ran a football Italia-themed week, naturally enough dubbed Football Italia week, and commissioned illustrator Dave Will to create these excellent artworks leading up to the show. With Roberto Baggio, Gabriel Batistuta, Paolo Maldini, Alex Del Piero and Ronaldo to name a few, Serie A was the place to be in the 1990’s.
We at Forza27 fully support this kind of thing and demand more Football Italia weeks, Calcio Super Saturdays and general all-round classic football nostalgia for our viewing pleasure. What a time to be alive.
